Technical Demonstration Prep List
Welcome to the Hair Cuttery Family of Brands—we’re so excited to have you on board! We can’t wait to see your talent in action and get you started on your journey with us.
As part of your onboarding experience, we will set-up a Technical Demonstration on your first day. This is a hands-on showcase of your skills, and it helps us learn how to best support you. Your Salon Leader will go over your technical demonstration and other onboarding details during your welcome call, so be sure to ask any questions you have!
What to Expect:
- Bring along a live model, or if you’d prefer to use one of our salon-provided mannequin heads, we’ll be ready.
- Plan to show us your skills with:
- Color application: Retouching and on virgin hair
- Foiling: Slice and foil weaves
- Haircuts: Clipper cuts, blunt cuts, and short layer cuts with a blow-dry style
- Specific Cuts:
- Clipper and shear cut as short as 1 inch in the nape, keeping 2 inches or longer on top
- Blunt cut with 2 inches off and layered cuts that are 5 inches or longer
What to Wear:
- Dress in all black
What to Bring:
- Your essential tools (let us know if you need any):
- Blow dryer
- Foiling combs
- Cutting combs
- Styling and detangling brushes
- Shears
- Clippers with guard attachments and neck trimmers
- Sectioning clips
- Spray bottle
